Fair Use Isn’t Used Very Fairly – BCM112

The topic of copyright is one that I know all too well, especially with the totalitarian video service of YouTube. As documented in the lecture, I can see the benefits of not having copyright laws in place such as having more exposure for you product and ease of growth and development. However, I believe the right of content should be with the creator considering they took the time, effort and, most likely, money to bring this concept to the public.

It is important that creators and artist can have ownership over what they make, however if a format is edited/remixed enough that it now has new meaning and experience, it should be considered a new content. This is the issue with a lot of online hubs as most have automated systems to detect copyrighted content rather than analysing it’s context.

Hence my content for this week, too bad you can’t hear the life changing sounds I made… 😉
