Hello! I thought I would begin this blog with a friendly little introduction of who. I am and what kind of things I’m interested in achieving through using social media platforms to captivate an audience and, hopefully, spread content that could be useful.
Firstly, my name is Bree, a studying artist, mainly in graphic design, looking to one day get into the world of marketing and advertising once I have completed my studies. And I hope to be able to make my own creations of art for a greater audience to see… maybe even a gallery someday which, I suppose, is every aspiring artists’ dream.
‘drawoncedrawtwice’ is a username that I have been working with for roughly a year as an Instagram account to post my creations as I navigated my first year of university. I was hoping to learn and understand how to use social media to my advantage as the art world today, I feel, revolves more around promotion of ones work through a digital space. However, I can’t say I succeeded considering I didn’t focus predominantly on this venture, rather adding bits and pieces that I felt didn’t necessarily show my true potential just so my account didn’t completely fade away from lack of use.
I came up with this username from paying more attention to my own artistic process. I’m an artist that needs my work to be perfect, which is both a good and bad trait to have as a growing artist. It’s good in the way that it means I care so strongly about my work that I want it to convey the emotions I put into it perfectly to my audience. However, it’s horrible as it takes me a greater amount of time to complete an artwork and, on most occasions, leaves me too stressed to even complete or publish the stuff I’ve made.
I suppose I’m a Virgo through and through.
But the username symbolises how I should be working to get the best results; if something doesn’t work at first, give it another try. And thus ‘drawoncedrawtwice’ was born.
Learning from experience!
So, with this history, I hope to move on from the flop of the previous year and give more glory to the name and myself. I want to focus more on my art and the way I create, which I feel is a topic that many other struggling artists, and even successful artists, can relate to. Hence why my first thought for my Digital Artefact is to create a YouTube Channel dedicated to my dedication to this cause… which I’m hoping won’t be an even bigger flop.
I am a bit nervous on the idea as I am not an expert but talking about challenging art theories and ways of process would really benefit me in how I view my art and studies. I’m hoping, in return, it will also inspire others to do the same.
Fortunately, I have previously had a YouTube Channel towards the later years of high school (That we no longer discuss because, oh boy, that was embarrassing) that was somewhat successful and gained a bit of an audience. This means that I know how to create and edit a video together to be coherent enough for people to understand, so I am not going into this kind of format blind.
It is a time-consuming process; however, I don’t want that to intimidate me as I have a passion for this topic and I’m hoping that will triumph. I have typed out a list of roughly 20 video ideas already and I’m hoping at least one of those will be transformed into the first video and jumpstart this exciting project.
Any who, thank you so much for having a read and getting to know a little about me and I can’t wait to hear your thoughts and I am also super excited to post my first video soon.
Keep an eye on my YouTube Channel, or better yet subscribe and push the notifications button so you get a notification once it has been unleashed on
the internet!
